M. Lee Locke grew up in Texas, receiving a college degree in philosophy, before moving to California. He worked in software, performed in rock bands as well as a solo Texas Folk singer-songwriter, made a living as a seascape artist, while spending as much time sailing as he could. He lived in The Netherlands for seven years, completed a circumnavigation of the world in his own thirty-seven foot sailboat, then lived in Africa for five years before returning to the United States. He now lives in the Virgin Islands and continues writing and performing as a singer/songwriter.
